The Water Street Cafe is a local institution in the center of the seaside village of Stonington Borough. It is highly rated by the New York Times, Zagats, Connecticut Magazine, local publications throughout Connecticut and most importantly, our customers.
The atmosphere is warm and eclectic with comfortable seating, a beautiful handcrafted mahogany bar and whimsical found objects throughout. Our wonderful staff makes every guest feel welcomed.
We are known for our French and Asian inspired signature dishes which include Stonington fresh-caught seafood and produce sourced from local organic farmers. Our selection of oysters is well known and includes local classics like Stonington Oysters and Ninigret Nectars and fantastic oysters from the waters of Prince Edward Island and the Pacific Northwest.
We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 5pm to 9pm. Dinner reservations are encouraged and may be made online or by calling 860-535-2122 after 4pm. Take out orders can be made online or by phone.
“…the food is elevated and very much the shining star in a seaside village where serving the best that the coastal area offers is paramount.”
“This was my first time here but my best friends third time, and I have to say... the best meal of the year! Thank you to the bartender, the smokeshow was a great drink and the fluke was delicious!”

“We both ordered the London Broil and it was amazing as well. Cooked to perfection with garlic butter and Water Street Fries. The fries were great too!
We had a really cool chat with the owner and it really was just one of those magical dining experiences that you wake up the next day and say, "Wow, when is the next time we are going back?”
